Carlos de Icaza

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. G20 Sherpa for Mexico since February 2013. Previously, he served as Vice-Minister for Latin America and Asia-Pacific (1998-2000) and Chief Administrative Officer (1991-1993). Abroad he has been Mexico’s Ambassador to France (2007-2012) and Permanent Representative of Mexico to UNESCO (2010-2012), Ambassador to the United States (2004-2007), Japan (2001-2004), Belgium (1996-1998), Argentina (1995-1996), and Ecuador (1986-1988). He was appointed Ambassador Emeritus in 2015, a distinction reserved for diplomats with a long and outstanding career in service to Mexico.
