Emeritus director of reseach at the National Center for Scientific Research in Paris and member of the Academia Europaea and the European Academy of Sociology. Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru. Ex-Editor of the French Journal of Sociology and member of a dozen editorial committees of international scientific journals, he leads the GEMAS Studies in Social Theory, Bardwell Press, Oxford. He wrote numerous papers and books, including Essai sur l’islamisation (2018). He taught in many higher education institutions such as Sciences Po and many universities: Paris IV, Paris V, Lausanne, Geneva, Casablanca, Rabat, London, Nuffield College Oxford.
