He was Head of the Economic Department of Charbonnages de France (1954- 1957), CEO of the Sema group (1958-1975), Director of the OECD Interfutures Project (1976-1979), Head of the Department of Economics at Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), Paris (1976-1996), Director of Le Monde (1991-1994). He graduated from the Ecole polytechnique and the Ecole des mines de Paris.
