He is a Member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Founder and former Deputy Director of the Institute of Europe of the Academy of Sciences of USSR/Russia (1989-2010). He has been Dean of the School of International Economics and Foreign Affairs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE) since 2006. He was a Member of High Level Panel of Eminent Persons on European Security as a Common Project (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) (2014-2015).
